Gold Finance reported that on January 11th, local time, Special Prosecutor Jack Smith, who is responsible for Trump's case at the US Department of Justice, officially resigned from the Department of Justice on January 10th. Jack Smith was appointed as Special Prosecutor in November 2022 and was responsible for investigating two cases involving the elected US President Trump. Court documents show that the Department of Justice is currently in ongoing disputes with Trump's defense team regarding the release of the investigation report on the obstruction of the transfer of presidential power after Trump's 2020 election. It is reported that Smith has completed his work and resigned as Special Prosecutor.
