[Former Google CEO Schmidt: China and the US should cooperate to ensure humanity can control these AI tools] The 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference opened. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt stated in a conversation with Shen Xiangyang, Chairman of the Board of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, that China has made great achievements in AI in the past two years, and China and the US should cooperate to jointly maintain world stability and ensure that humanity can control these AI tools. He believes that "China has achieved modernization through reform and opening up, and has achieved great success today. Taking Shanghai as an example, both product quality and robotics technology are remarkable." Schmidt stated that he has always been an optimist, believing that China and the US can gradually build trust, something that has been done in history and can be achieved again now. (The Paper)
