Critical day for cryptocurrencies in the US: The first vote resulted in rejection - Bitcoin news - Uzmancoin - Crypto and Blockchain
A historic day is being experienced in the cryptocurrency market in the US. Three important bills regulating the crypto sector are being voted on today in the House of Representatives. The first news coming in is not promising.
In the critical week referred to as "Crypto Week" in the US, the proposals for regulating stablecoins by GENIUS, clarifying the division of responsibilities for institutions by CLARITY, and the first procedural vote against the Anti-CBDC proposals prohibiting the Fed from issuing digital currency resulted in a rejection.
In the vote held in the House of Representatives, the proposal to bring the bills planned for discussion this week to the agenda was rejected by a vote of 223 against 196 and could not be submitted to the general assembly vote. It was noteworthy that 13 Republican representatives from Trump's camp voted against. The vote will be attempted again later.
Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, who voted against it, said, "I voted no because there is no provision in the bill that prevents the central bank from issuing digital currency, and Speaker Johnson did not allow us to propose amendments for the GENIUS bill. The American people do not want a government-controlled digital currency. As Republicans, it is our duty to ban CBDC."
