Three years ago, my wife always said that my cryptocurrency trading was "gambling." At the dinner table of my father-in-law's house, relatives looked at me sideways and asked, "I heard you are involved with Bitcoin? Isn't that just a scam?" I silently picked at my food, and my explanations seemed pale. At that time, BTC was struggling at $30,000, and ETH had just broken $2,000, with the market filled with bearish sentiment. While relatives urged me to "be practical and work hard," they flaunted their own children passing civil service exams and buying houses and cars. I held onto my shrinking position, not even daring to share my trading screenshots in the family group.
When the real profit first broke through seven digits, I sent a screenshot of the account to my wife: "Look, this is the 'gambling' you scolded me about for three years." She stared at the screen in silence for a while, then suddenly laughed: "I'll cook tonight, and you teach me how to buy coins." It turns out that the account balance is the best persuader.
Last week I returned to my father-in-law's house, and the relatives' attitudes completely reversed:
My cousin rubbed his hands and asked, "Bro, can we still get into ETH now? I heard it could rise to 10,000?"
Even the most mean-spirited uncle back then came over: "Um... how to store Bitcoin most safely? What wallet to use?"
I smiled as I opened the exchange app, demonstrating registration, KYC, and spot buying on-site. My father-in-law murmured while sipping his drink: "If I had known he could succeed in this, I should have invested a little back then..."
The "side job" that was once mocked has now become the "most reliable side hustle" for the whole family. But I know: In a bull market, everyone thinks they are a genius; only those who have experienced a liquidation truly understand respect.
