Duan Yongping's "Do the right thing, and do things right" is something he learned while reading "The Effective Executive" in his junior year, the original text states:

Doing things right, focusing on physical labor, and pursuing efficiency can be measured by quantity and quality.

Do the right thing, focus on mental labor, pursue effectiveness, which cannot be measured by quantity and quality; thinking is the duty, and the effectiveness of thinking is the output.
