## 5 chain target

Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, announced the termination of services on five "legacy" blockchains. The affected chains include Algorand, Bitcoin Cash, EOS, Kusama, and Omni, with redemptions ceasing and remaining tokens being frozen from September 1.

The company's CEO, Paolo Ardoino, stated in a statement, "The end of support for the legacy chain allows us to focus on platforms that offer greater scalability, developer activity, and community participation." He emphasized that these elements are crucial for driving the next generation of stablecoin adoption.

As of August 2023, Tether announced the discontinuation of support for Bitcoin Cash, Kusama, and Omni. Due to low usage rates and performance degradation, new issuance on these chains had already been halted, but redemption services continued.

The company is urging customers to redeem USDT on Omni, Kusama, SLP, EOS, and Algorand as soon as possible.
