BRC-20 and Ordinals inject innovative vitality into Bitcoin, supported by the founder of Ethereum.

Bitcoin, as the most widely known Crypto Asset in the world, supports only simple transactions at its base layer and cannot perform complex smart contracts calculations. This limitation has somewhat restricted the innovation and development of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

However, some developers are working hard to break through this limitation. They are creating new token standards on the Bitcoin network in hopes of bringing more functionality and flexibility to Bitcoin. Among them, the BRC-20 token is a striking experimental standard that allows for the minting and transfer of fungible tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain through the Ordinals protocol.

The Ordinals protocol is a system for numbering Satoshis, allowing users to attach additional data to Satoshis, a process referred to as "inscription". BRC-20 tokens utilize Ordinals to inscribe JSON data for deploying token contracts, minting, and transferring tokens. Currently, the BRC-20 standard supports creating tokens through the deploy function, minting tokens via the mint function, and transferring tokens using the transfer function.

The co-founder of Ethereum expressed appreciation for this innovation during an online discussion on July 7, 2023. He believes that Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens have revitalized the "builder culture" of Bitcoin and are a resistance to the "stagnation" politics within the Bitcoin ecosystem.

V God: Ordinals Revived the Builder Culture of Bitcoin

Regarding the future expansion of Bitcoin, the Ethereum founder suggested focusing on implementing different types of Layer-2 solutions while seeking ways to improve the efficiency of the Bitcoin base layer. Layer-2 solutions are additional layers built on top of the Bitcoin base layer, aimed at increasing transaction speed and lowering costs. Currently, several Layer-2 solutions have been developed and are in use, such as the Lightning Network.

Overall, this Ethereum founder expressed affirmation and encouragement for Ordinals and the BRC-20 standard, believing that these are manifestations of Bitcoin's innovation and development. His suggestions for the future development of Bitcoin may spark discussions and feedback among different factions within the Bitcoin community.

BRC-20 and Ordinals tokens have not only gained the support of Ethereum co-founders but also attracted the attention of well-known figures and institutions from other fields. For example, a well-known investor revealed on social media that he owns some BRC-20 tokens and referred to them as "cool". A famous digital artist also expressed interest in Ordinals and purchased some BRC-20 tokens. Additionally, a well-known gaming company and a major trading platform announced their support for Ordinals and will provide development and trading services for BRC-20 tokens. All of these indicate that BRC-20 and Ordinals tokens have garnered widespread attention and participation beyond the realm of Crypto Assets.
