Startup Block Earner launches a mortgage loan for home purchase using Bitcoin in Australia
The Sydney-based fintech startup Block Earner has just introduced the first home loan product in Australia secured by Bitcoin, allowing borrowers to loan up to 50% of the property value by locking BTC in a third-party custody (Fireblocks).
Borrowers can repay in cash or crypto and can settle early without penalty. The company stated that it has recorded over 110 million AUD ( approximately 72.4 million USD ) in initial demand, although there are no official traditional lending partners yet.
Operating model: users deposit BTC into the custody, borrowing up to 60% of the value of the BTC as stake ( with an LVR of 60% ), used as a deposit, while the remaining amount is borrowed from traditional banks. If the price of BTC drops significantly, the borrower has 30 days to add collateral or repay in fiat currency. Housing will not be affected by fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin.
Block Earner expects this product to open up a new approach that helps Australians buy homes without needing to sell BTC, in the context of the government and regulatory agencies in the country promoting digital finance and asset tokenization.
