William Duplessie, a man suspected of teaming up to kidnap and torture an Italian cryptocurrency investor in Manhattan, turned himself in to the New York police on Tuesday, Golden Finance reported. Allegedly, the case aims to force the victim, Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan, to hand over the Bitcoin wallet key through "physical and psychological abuse". Carturan was imprisoned for nearly three weeks, starting on May 6, "beaten, hung on the top floor of a five-story building, and threatened with a gun" before eventually escaping the police. Police say the case reflects a growing trend of violent attacks against crypto users.
